    Paignton Communty and Sports Academy

Paignton Community and Sports Academy is a secondary school and specialist Sports School in South Devon, England.

The School has over 1926 pupils on roll, including 285 Sixth Form students, the majority coming from the Paignton area.

The School welcomed its first comprehensive intake into Year 7 in 1992 and first Sixth Form students in September 1995.

Paignton Community and Sports Academy has been a designated specialist Sports School since September 2002. Through achieving Specialist School Status the School has received extra funding.

As Paignton Community Academy was bidding to become a Sports College, it was also invited to put in a bid for the School Sports Co-ordinator Project (SSCO) on behalf of Torbay. This bid was successful and the Partnership Development Manager works with the College and involves all primary, special and secondary schools in the Bay.

In conjunction with Torbay Council using much of the work undertaken for the Sports College bid, an application was made to NOF (New Opportunities Fund) for additional sporting facilities.

This bid was also successful and the College was only one of four schools to be successful in securing funding at that time. This has resulted in a much needed Sports Hall and Fitness Suite being built on the Borough Road site.

    English Riviera

Torbay is in Devon, England, administered as a unitary authority by Torbay Borough Council. The towns are Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, which together occupy an east-facing natural harbour by the English Channel. Torbay is roughly in the middle of cities Exeter and Plymouth. A popular tourist destination with a tight connurbation of resort towns, Torbay's sandy beaches, mild climate and recreational and leisure attractions have given rise to the nickname of the English Riviera.
